The Facilitation of Learning Programme has three phases. Phase 1 focuses on establishing the baseline for application through selfpaced eLearning. Phase 2 consists of in-person training sessions during which you can collaboratively create and exerecise your own facilitation programme design. Phase 3 is the final test. You are challenged to facilitate a session under assessment conditions.

Phase 1 – Creating a baseline for application
Through six interactive modules, you will explore the key aspects of effective facilitation:
- Module 1: Foundations of Facilitation – Understanding the learner-centred approach, facilitation techniques, and key competencies.
- Module 2: Planning for Effective Learning Part 1– Applying the 9-Step Facilitation Planning Cycle and aligning learning objectives with participant needs.
- Module 3: Planning for Effective Learning Part 2 - Delivering engaging sessions – creating evaluations and assessments, and using logframes of outcome analysis.
- Module 4: Managing Learning Environments – Creating effective communication strategies and using active listening.
- Module 5: Managing Group Dynamics, addressing learning challenges, mentoring and managing disruptions.
- Module 6: Providing Constructive Feedback – Techniques to empower learners and facilitate long-term skill development.
Each module includes practical exercises, case studies, and real-world applications to ensure you develop confidence and competence in facilitation.
Phase 1 is closed with a Multiple Choice Questionnaire. If you are succesful, you can download the Facilitatiuon of Learning Handbook for Practitioners and move to Phase 2.

Phase 2 - Instruction & Practice
Phase 2 focuses on developing practical facilitation skills by applying the 9-Step Facilitation Planning Cycle. During in-person sessions, you will engage in hands-on learning through group activities, mock facilitation sessions, and reflective practice. The ultimate goal is to design and deliver your own facilitation session while demonstrating effective planning, execution, and evaluation skills. By the end of Phase 2, you will have:
- Designed a complete facilitation session.
- Delivered multiple rounds of facilitation practice.
- Received and applied feedback for continuous improvement.
- Developed the confidence and competence to facilitate adult learning effectively.
-
Phase 3 – Assessment and Validation
Phase 3 marks the culmination of the Facilitation of Learning Programme, where you will demonstrate your facilitation competencies through a final live session assessment, reflective practice, and individual mentoring. This day is designed to validate your ability to apply the 9-Step Facilitation Planning Cycle effectively and meet the certification requirements at RQF Level 5. By the end of Day 4, you will have:
- Successfully facilitated a live learning session, demonstrating competence in structured facilitation.
- Completed a reflective journal, documenting insights, progress, and areas for improvement.
- Engaged in an individual mentoring session, receiving professional feedback and guidance.
- Completed all required assessments, ensuring eligibility for certification at RQF Level 5.
-
Certification and Accreditation
Upon successful completion of all six modules and assessments, participants will receive a Facilitation of Learning Certificate at Regulated Framework Qualification (RFQ) Level 5, recognising advanced facilitation competence. This certification validates your ability to lead effective learning experiences and enhances your professional credentials in training, education, and leadership roles.
